Rhinoplasty Surgery Procedure

While nose surgery is often performed for aesthetic purposes, it can also be performed to enhance the function of the nose. Rhinoplasty used to improve breathing is known as reconstructive rhinoplasty. During this procedure, a surgeon reshapes the bone and cartilage under the skin by first making an incision near the base of the nose. Reconstructive rhinoplasty is often performed in order to correct a patient's birth defect, such as a deviated septum, or a broken nose. The average recovery time for rhinoplasty is 4-6 weeks; however, it can vary depending on the healing characteristics of the patient and the extent of the surgery. All of the featured plastic surgeons have years of experience performing rhinoplasty. In addition, many of them specialize in helping patients who have undergone unsatisfactory nose surgery elsewhere by offering revision, or, secondary rhinoplasty. Revision rhinoplasty is often more complex and requires advanced skill on the part of the surgeon.
