Plastic surgery can improve the contours of a patient's body, and help to redefine and reshape their face or breasts. Plastic surgery done for aesthetic reasons is sometimes referred to as cosmetic surgery. The most popular forms of cosmetic surgery are liposuction, breast augmentation, face lift, rhinoplasty and abdominoplasty. Plastic surgery also helps to correct hereditary deformities as well as a disfigurement caused by a serious accident. This type of surgery is referred to as reconstructive surgery, and can sometimes be covered by insurance. Such procedures may be carried out in an onsite surgical facility provided by the doctor or, for more invasive procedures, in a hospital. Outpatient procedures such as collagen injections and laser vein removal are often done at a doctor's own facility and require little to no recovery time.
